AQUALYX is also called Motolese’s Solution, named for the professor that introduced the drug. It is made of a unique formula that can break down fat pockets with just a few simple treatments and show visible results within the first 2 sessions. Based on the concepts of standard fat-dissolving ingredients, Prof. Motolese started to work on a new formulation in 2004 that would selectively destroy fat cells without damaging neighboring tissues using a derived form of sodium deoxycholate. As a result, Aqualyx was developed after 5 years of research and launched on 2008. It contains micro quantities of molecules with lipolytic action that has a short half-life capable of selectively intensifying the effect on the targeted adipose tissues. Aqualyx are best given to patients who presents with stubborn fat pockets that are unresponsive to diets and physical activity. It can successfully treat fat pads present in the hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, reduces abdominal fat and double chin. It can be used for both men and women, however it is not suitable for obese or significantly overweight patients.

Aqualyx is a compound made from the deoxycholate family of acids. The acid present in Aqualyx is already a naturally occurring acid within the human body that has an essential function to cause fat destruction in the body.

HOW IT WORKS

Aqualyx is a phosphatidylcholine-free solution, it rather contains a weakened variant of sodium deoxycholate that works like a detergent, leading to the destruction of the fat cells once administered. The detergent dissolves the fat by means of emulsification of the adipose cell membrane. Once Aqualyx is injected intradermally, it provokes cellular lysis, releasing cellular debris and triglycerides, which are progressively disposed of by the monocyte-macrophage system and drain into the lymphatic system.

BEFORE & AFTER

PRECAUTIONS

1. Patients with untreated infection or uncontrolled inflammation should not start treatment.
2. AQUALYX Solution is not a weight loss treatment. Aqualyx must be accompanied by healthy diet and an exercise regimen to ensure success of the treatment.
3. Patients who have large volumes of fat (BMI 30 or more) or have unrealistic expectations are not recommended for AQUALYX Fat Dissolving treatment.
4. Patients underlying medical history (e.g., blood-clotting problems, diabetes, liver or kidney diseases, severe autoimmune diseases) must inform the doctor of their condition before the treatment.
5. Inform the doctor if you have any allergy to the product’s ingredients to avoid dangerous side effects.

AFTERCARE GUIDE

1. After the procedure, swelling and redness may occur (but will eventually fade away), thus heparin ointment or ice packs placed over the treatment area after the procedure is recommended.
2. Do not apply any cosmetic onto the treated area within the following 12 hours.
3. Avoid extreme sports and activities for 7 days after treatment. 
4. Avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation such as sunbathing, sauna or UV radiation for 2 weeks after treatment.
5. Keep a strict and healthy diet to achieve optimal results.

PACKAGING AND SPECIFICATIONS

AQUALYX Fat Dissolving Solution consists of 10 x 8mL vials in one package.

Preparation: Usually, 2 injection spots are required per region of the target area. A local anesthetic can be added to the solution before administration to improve the patient’s comfort level. 

Recommended dosage: Dosage will depend on the target area in the body. For example, fat pockets underneath the neck and chin may require 2 to 3 injections per treatment session, while hips and thighs may require 4 to 8 injections per session.

Treatment interval: The treatment can take between 30 – 60 minutes per session. However, the number of treatments varies according to the desired effects, the dimensions of the fat deposits, and each patient’s condition. On average, it is recommended to undergo around 3 to 5 appointments with a 3-week interval until the desired results are achieved.
